Decks, porches and fences built to last
Decks are the work I am known for around Griffin. New builds, rebuilds, repairs, and the porches and fences that go with them.
What this actually involves.
A deck is the one project where the framing matters more than the finish. Footings, joist spacing, a properly flashed ledger. Get those right and the deck outlives the house. Get them wrong and no amount of stain hides it.
I build in pressure treated wood, cedar and composite, and I will tell you honestly which one makes sense for your yard and your budget rather than pushing the expensive one.
New decks and porches
Ground level, raised, wrap around, multi level. Built to your door heights and your yard, not off a stock plan.
Screened porches
Screen in an existing deck or build the whole thing. Usable space in mosquito season.
Deck repair and restoration
Board replacement, joist and post repair, pressure washing and staining, railing that has gone wobbly.
Fences
New fence, fence repair, and replacing sections that have rotted or come down in a storm.
Start to finish.
Free estimate on site
I come look at it in person. Photos never tell the whole story with a deck.
A straight number
What it costs and what it includes, in writing, before anything starts.
Build
Framing first, then decking, then railing and trim. Site cleaned every evening.
Walkthrough
We look at it together and I fix anything you point out before I leave.
Some of it, up close.
Real reviews, real jobs.
"Ed (The Handyman) did a great job on repairing a 40' section of my fence the other day. He and crew also built my deck/porch a couple years back which we still love. I don't think you can go wrong hiring Ed for any project you have in mind."
"I had my decks pressure washed and stained, several boards replaced and a few other repairs completed around my property. The work was done professionally and at a fair price. I would definitely recommend Ed to anyone, and i wouldn't hesitate to hire him again."
Where I work.
Based in Griffin, GA and working across Griffin, Experiment, Sunny Side, Orchard Hill, Williamson, Zebulon, Hampton, Jackson, Locust Grove, McDonough, Barnesville, Milner, Concord and the rest of Spalding County. If you are just outside that, call and ask, the answer is usually yes.
Straight answers.
Can you repair a deck instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. If the structure underneath is sound, replacing boards and railing costs a lot less than a rebuild. I will tell you which one you actually need.
Do you build screened porches?
Yes, both screening in a deck you already have and building the porch from scratch.
How long does a deck take?
Most take a few days once we start. I will give you the schedule up front so you are not guessing.
